Volunteer Program Information
You'll find information below to help you decide whether volunteering with us is for you and to make the most of your time with Finally Home:
When you've decided to join us, you will need to fill out the Volunteer Application (which includes a Release and Waiver of Liability and Hold Harmless form.
The type of work you do at Finally Home Horse Rescue will be determined by both your individual abilities and the current needs at the Barn. We have a variety of volunteer opportunities for people of all experience levels. Your skills will be assessed over time and you will be able to take on additional responsibilities as you progress and feel comfortable around the horses.
We also have work parties (typically monthly) where we all get together and focus on chores and special projects. These are open to anyone and it's a great way to get your toes wet if you're not ready to jump all the way in. :) You can sign up on our Facebook events page or through Volunteer Match (see the links below).
Expect that in your first 3-6 months you will be primarily performing Barn chores and helping with other activities that may not involve working directly with horses. There will be opportunities in regular training clinics for you to be introduced to working with horses and have your skills assessed.
New volunteers typically start on Sundays so you can learn the ropes from other volunteers. If Sundays don't work for you, let us know.
We ask for a minimum 3-month commitment, with at least one session of 2-3 hours per week. In addition to your regularly scheduled hours, volunteers typically participate in the following events.
