Sept. 2018. With heavy hearts, we must announce that we will be officially closing Finally Home Horse Rescue. We do not have sustainable funding necessary to continue with our work to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome horses in need.
Thank you to all of you who have been so generous with us and special thanks to those of you who adopted. We are very proud that 11 of the horses we rescued have found their forever homes. We also helped 4 horses through a loving and graceful end that they would not have had otherwise. Now our attention turns to finding the right homes for the 8 horses and 1 donkey still in our care.
You can learn more about the horses who still need homes here. Many of these horses need extra medical care and training, but they are great horses and we love them. They have been harder to find homes for, but each has lots of personality and love to offer. We know they will make someone very happy.
And we owe a huge debt of gratitude to our amazing volunteers: loving, dedicated people who have gone above and beyond to care for the horses. We simply could not have made it this far without their passion, their dedication, their hard work. We will miss the sense of family and teamwork that we’ve enjoyed at the barn. Our devoted leadership team has been instrumental, taking on additional responsibilities to support the horses. A mere “thank you” feels so inadequate.
Obviously, this is a situation no rescue wants to be in. We spent years trying to establish a financial foothold, but in the end, we do not want to risk the well-being of the horses without sufficient means. Before it becomes a true crisis, we want to responsibly take this action. We are committed to our mission until the last horse has a loving family.
How can you help? In order to keep our horses healthy until we find them loving homes:
